Let's think about why they pulled it. There was no market back then. Gas was cheap, nobody cared about global warming and there was no 9-11 or Iraq bullshit going on. The EV-1 couldn't travel far enough and not everyone has access to plug in cars so they NEED gas as a back up. Its just common sense.

Fuck GM, Fuck Volt (Not all electric), Fuck 'em because they did it to themselves. I want to kick the GM management in the balls. Now they want a bailout, fuck 'em. They shit our hopes out on the pavement with the EV-1. Now they can die as they realize they are idiots for not doing the right thing.

The Ev1 was a perfect car produced 10 years ago and GM killed it!

Ah! So it'll do 48 to 50 mpg on a total fill-up and a flat out run to dead empty. That's good if the car is reliable.
Also, if it's true the electricity costs about 20% what gas does, it's true that most people only do 40 miles a day or less. Could be good but it IS late.

I guess you didn't hear about the hybrid full size SUV GM has on the market. A full size pickup hybrid should be hitting the streets in January. They may not be leading the pack but they are not opposing making fuel efficient vehicles.
robertg222 on November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am
48 to 50 according to a GM web site.

Yeah but on a full charge and a full tank how far can you drive on the highway on how much gas in the tank?
gtr2222 on November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am
The electric moter is charged by the gas moter. Able to go 200+ miles. Sounds good , hope they can do it.

They will capter 11, and then they'll reorganize and be back. Those guys are so crying the blues, OH! were gonna die and so will the United States of America if you don't give us 25,000.000.000.00. They would say/lie absolutely anything to get their hands on/steal all that money from the tax payers. I'll say this for them, they recognize opportunity when they see it. Greed is soooooo good at that. Theres only so many cars to make and someone WILL make them HERE in the U.S., doesn't matter who.
